General information

Ready for anything

The off-road capabilities of the G-Class have assumed near legendary status amongst 4X4 aficionados – and it’s fully deserved. The permanent four-wheel drive, the 4ETS Electronic Traction System, the synchronised transfer case and the three 100% differential locks, all work together in perfect harmony to make the G-Class a match for the toughest terrain. Fitted as standard, the innovative transfer case’s off-road ratio is a key component. Activated at the touch of a switch, it generates formidable traction, enabling a stunning gradient-climbing capability of up to 80%. Similarly, the differential locks can be activated individually and in a logically specified sequence – so you can adapt the vehicle perfectly to its surroundings. If a wheel loses traction, the power is redirected to the wheels offering the best grip. Even if only one wheel is providing grip, you will still make good headway.

The G-Class has been given a facelift for 2013 to further add to its aggressiveness. The front grille and bumper is more robust, and now features brilliant LED daytime running lamps beneath the headlights. In behind, there’s now a standard AMG sports exhaust with twin chrome tailpipes and a rugged stainless steel spare wheel cover sporting a 3D Mercedes-Benz star.

This spacious off-roader offers drivers and passengers maximum comfort on long stretches and on rough terrain. High-quality materials and refined luxury come standard, as does a newly designed steering wheel, console and control panel. The raised seating position combined with a lower window line makes for an excellent view, while the 2,250 L trunk provides enough room for a round-the-world trip.

You’re in good hands

When you take the wheel of the G-Class, you can enjoy total peace of mind thanks to a host of reliable electronic safety aids that are activated in critical situations. For example, if there is a risk of the vehicle skidding the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) kicks in. It restricts the engine torque, applies the brakes at one or more wheels – depending on the specific situation - and stabilises the vehicle. In the event of an emergency stop, Brake Assist (BAS) ensures the necessary braking force is applied instantaneously. At the same time the anti-lock braking system (ABS), developed and modified especially for the G-Class, and the 4ETS Electronic Traction System for four-wheel drive vehicles help you remain in control of your vehicle during emergency situations. If an accident proves unavoidable, driver and front-passenger airbags plus windowbags standard on all models help reduce the risk of injury.
