Blending the dynamic nature of a sports coupé with the striking proportions and muscular characteristics of an SUV, the GLE Coupé opens up a world of possibilities. With its distinctive profile, dramatic styling, large wheels and generous ground clearance, it promises an exhilarating driving experience - and it doesn’t disappoint.

Fitted with a range of innovative equipment as standard, the GLE Coupé’s 9G-TRONIC PLUS 9-speed automatic transmission provides outstanding agility and responsiveness. Meanwhile, AIRMATIC air suspension with Adaptive Damping System Plus continuously variable damping ensures accurate handling and a flawless ride.

DYNAMIC SELECT is also standard, enabling you to change the coupé’s driving characteristics from sporty to a more comfort-oriented set-up. And 4MATIC all-wheel drive ensures the GLE Coupé maintains good traction, even in the toughest driving conditions.


The sweeping roofline, the power domes, the dramatic air intakes, and the dynamic creases down the flanks suggest sports car agility and performance. But the high ground clearance, the muscular wings and haunches, the large wheel arches housing 21” alloys. These are the attributes of a rugged off-roader. Together, they form the perfect fusion of coupé and SUV: The GLE Coupé.

Inside, a luxurious, generously equipped cabin awaits, with standard features including nappa leather sports seats and the distinctive AMG sports steering wheel. Choose designo Line models and you’ll also get exclusive designo trim choices, plus additional equipment including the panoramic electric sunroof and multi-contour front seats.

Driving dynamics

The combination of AIRMATIC air suspension and Adaptive Damping System Plus, our most advanced adaptive damping system, enables remarkably agile handling and response. And to help you maximise the full potential of the GLE Coupé, it’s also equipped with the DYNAMIC SELECT handling control system.

This lets you choose from four driving modes on the GLE 350 d, the modes being COMFORT, SPORT, SLIPPERY and INDIVIDUAL. Or, for an added dynamic ride the GLE 450 AMG adds a fifth driving mode of SPORT+. Each of these adapts the chassis, engine, suspension, and steering systems to alter the driving characteristics.

In COMFORT mode, for example, you’ll enjoy early upshifts and lighter steering, while SPORT mode stiffens and lowers the suspension, with later upshifts for a more athletic drive. Other options include SLIPPERY mode, which optimises performance on low-grip surfaces.


Fitted as standard, 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive enables dynamic, assured handling and enhanced safety in even the most challenging conditions.

4MATIC is completely integrated with the GLE Coupé’s other safety and driving assistance systems, including the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP®). So it can precisely determine when and where power is needed most and manage the torque requirements of each wheel individually.

Should the 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4ETS) detect wheelspin, it reacts by rapidly pulsing the brake at the slipping wheel. It can then send torque back to the wheel or wheels that still have grip, so they can apply power to the road and get you back on track.


The new 9G-TRONIC PLUS transmission features nine speeds, with gear ratios calibrated for the optimum blend of efficiency and responsiveness. Working in conjunction with the DYNAMIC SELECT system, 9G-TRONIC PLUS can either deliver fast, dynamic shifts for agile, sporty driving or silky smooth, barely perceptible changes for more relaxed cruising.

The 6-cylinder diesel and petrol models both feature 9G-TRONIC PLUS, and their performance figures speak for themselves. The GLE 350 d 4MATIC, for example, can return 39.2 mpg combined and sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 7.0 seconds. The GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC is even quicker - 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds - yet it still returns up to 31.7 mpg combined.
